While we were in the process of adopting Alayna, we met other adopting families along the way. It was such a great blessing to have others going on the same trip. Some were ahead of us and answered our many questions, some were right along side and we were able to share in the joy of each step we took.
During our adoption, we also had family and friends who are not adopting now, but came alongside us to help with our adoption. People gave and prayed and loved Ally with us. They shared in our excitement and took the time to let us know they were among those who "get" why we were adopting.
Words cannot really express how much this meant to us...how much it will always mean to us.
Now that Ally is home, I hope to be able to encourage other families who are just stepping out or who are knee-deep in paperwork, or who are enduring months of waiting.
There's a new page at the top of my blog. Support Adopting Families. I've compiled a list of some families who are adopting who could use encouragement and support and prayer. You can visit their blogs and read their stories, pray for them and their children, and help in any way you can.
I know how much it will mean to them.
What a good idea to add that page to your blog. It is so nice to have others praying for you and supporting you during the adoption process. I felt so blessed when we were adopting that another family met Sophia and took pictures of her for us and took the time to email some info about how she seemed to be doing. It is just nice to have others care.
ReplyDeleteOh, Sabrina, I'm flabbergasted! Thank you for putting together this list of families who are in the midst of adopting. Words are completely inadequate to express how much this has encouraged me. Thank you!
